Installation and initial settings
Activate the licence, then configure the chat, administrators and appearance.
Requirements
- At least WISECP 5.0-beta.2 and PHP 8.2; an ionCube Loader compatible with the package.
- PDO/MySQL, mbstring, OpenSSL, cURL, ZipArchive and Fileinfo.
- A writable WISECP storage/temp area; for notifications, a working cron and configured email/SMS providers.
- A licensed domain, correct server time and a backup of files and database.
- For the optional AI: a provider API account, an accessible model, quota and outbound HTTPS access.
The installation, upgrade and removal methods of the source version were verified with separate test tables on PHP 8.2.34 and WISECP 5.0-beta.3. The approved encrypted package was installed on Hostimor.com on 16 October 2026; licence and integrity were verified on PHP 8.2.34 / WISECP 5.0-beta.3. Newer WISECP versions are not blocked; a “not tested yet” notice is shown.
1. Upload the approved Marketplace package
1.1.0 is published on the Marketplace. View on the WISECP Marketplace ↗ Install the add-on from the Marketplace in your WISECP admin area; new licences are on sale through Hostimor.
- In your Hostimor account, verify the domain licence and the update entitlement; take a backup of files and database.
- In your WISECP admin area, install Hostimor | Live Chat from the Marketplace. Before handing out the package, WISECP checks your domain’s licence with hostimor.com; the add-on is installed in
coremio/modules/Addons/HostimorLiveChat/. - If you downloaded the package from your hostimor.com client area, upload it via Tools → Addons → Upload New Addon. The package must be no larger than 50 MB and the archive root must be
coremio. - Open the Hostimor | Live Chat settings. On the Licence page the licence is verified automatically against the domain of your WISECP licence; no installation key is entered. The licence card should show Active and package integrity Verified.
- Set the permissions and activate the add-on. On a new installation, the AI, customer account access and ticket creation options are off; configure the options you will use separately.
The source review ZIP file is not the encrypted commercial package supplied to customers. Do not add extra outer folders or WISECP core files to the archive.
2. Configure the sections
- General settings: enabling the chat, access permissions and administrator notifications.
- Appearance: title, welcome message, icon and colours.
- Business hours: timezone and daily working ranges.
- AI: provider, selected API key, model, company knowledge and usage limits.
- Licence: key, licence verification, integrity and update entitlement. The Marketplace package is updated with the WISECP update wizard.
Each page saves only its own settings. Keys and preferences on the other pages are kept.
3. First check
Start a chat as a test visitor. Take the conversation from the operator panel and reply; then check it in the history. Confirm that a signed-in member is not asked for their name/email again and that the guest form contains name, email and phone. On desktop, Enter sends the message and Shift+Enter starts a new line; on mobile, Enter starts a new line.
The first installation is free. Later reinstallation requests are charged; contact Hostimor support about the scope.
Conversation checks after 1.0.15
1.0.15 has been published on the Marketplace. After installing the approved package, run the following checks:
- In separate browsers, open the chat as a guest and signed in to a customer account; confirm that neither can see the other’s conversations.
- In the admin area, end a waiting or AI conversation without taking it over.
- Read waiting and completed test conversations; check that the unread badge is cleared.
- Move a completed test conversation to “Deleted” and restore it; confirm that the messages and attachments are kept.
- On mobile, use “Go to workspace” to check the message box and the action buttons.
The schema upgrade is independent of the settings file version. 1.0.15 raises the schema version to 2 for the soft-delete fields; existing conversations are kept.
Disabling and removal
- Back up the files, database and add-on settings.
- On the Tools → Addons screen, disable the Hostimor | Live Chat add-on. The customer chat window and new conversations stop.
- For complete removal, use the Delete action on the same screen.
Existing chat and related data tables are kept. Removing the add-on does not cancel your licence service or permanently delete conversations. The preserved data can be used again after reinstallation; permanent data deletion is a separate operation.
Administrator access
A Fully Authorized administrator can access the settings, licence and chat pages even if the add-on’s selected access groups are empty. Other groups need the add-on access group and the WISECP Tools/Addons permission. Administrators who will receive new-conversation alerts are selected separately; active Fully Authorized accounts can be selected even when the access list is empty.
In the administrator account overview, services, orders and support history are each protected by the relevant WISECP viewing permission. Permission to access the chat add-on alone does not grant the right to view all customer records.
Schema check during updates
Developer note: database schema and update hook
The add-on’s database schema is recorded independently of the settings file version. Even if the panel refreshes the version label first, the required schema upgrade is applied on the first add-on data access, the administrator check or the per-minute task. Existing chats are kept. When the schema changes in future, the developer increments their own schema version; the completion record is not written until the new tables and columns have been created successfully.
The update-completed hook of WISECP beta.4 and later has been prepared as an additional verification path. For beta.2/beta.3, the visitor and per-minute task checks continue. beta.4 is not yet among the versions that have been acceptance-tested.
Checking the installation against the WISECP documentation
This guide is for Hostimor | Live Chat 1.1.0. Current descriptions of the WISECP panel screens and server requirements are listed below; the add-on’s licence, branding add-on and AI settings are covered in their own sections of this guide.
- WISECP system requirements: PHP 8.2 or later, a suitable ionCube Loader and server components.
- Addons screen: upload, activation and management.
- Addon settings: status, access groups and management area.
- Scheduled task setup: run the command shown in the panel once a minute under the site user’s account. Do not add the same task by more than one method.
Hostimor | Live Chat is distributed as a ZIP with the complete add-on directory tree. The upload options of other module types do not change this add-on’s package format. The ZIP must stay under the 50 MB limit, and the PHP upload and POST limits must also be large enough for your file.
Installation checklist
- Check the installed version on the Licence screen; the domain licence must be valid and integrity verified.
- Test Fully Authorized administrator access and each other group you have granted access separately. An empty access list does not allow other groups.
- Try separate chats as a guest and as a signed-in customer; check that the account details belong only to the right customer.
- Take a chat as an operator and reply; confirm that the automatic replies stop and the history is kept.
- Check the within/outside business hours status, the mobile message box and the file preview.
- If you will use notifications, send a single test; check the email/SMS queue and the provider result. Being queued is not the same as being delivered.
